Karnataka Power Corporation (KPCL) is planning to set up an 11.5 MW waste to energy (WTE) plant at Bidadi near Bangalore in Karnataka. The project cost is estimated at ₹ 260 crore and the project is likely to be completed in two years. The plant will have indigenous products and equipment. The plant will consume 600 tonne of segregated waste on a daily basis to produce power.
The power corporation has signed an MoU with ISGEC Heavy Engineering, along with its consortium partner Hitachi Zosen India, which have the experience of setting up of over 900 WTE plants across the world.
