Vedanta Group is planning to set up a integrated steel plant in Amarapura, Teggina Budihal, K.B Hali, Chaganuru, Siriwara, Bevinahalli villages in Bellary district of Karnataka. The plant will spread over 980.62 ha of land. Of this, 284 ha of land is in possession of Vedanta; the remaining will be acquired. The project is likely to be developed in two phases. The plant will be equipped with a coke oven complex, sinter plant, pellet plant, and a blast furnace, 450 MW captive power plant among others. The ore for the plant will be procured from Bellary-Hospet region, Karnataka. The project cost is estimated at Rs. 30,000 million.
