Uttam Galwa Steels Ltd is planning to set up a greenfield steel plant in Kudithini in Bellary district of Karnataka. The project involves setting up of a integrated steel plant with sinter plant, coke oven plant (2.74 mtpa), pellet plant (2.0 mtpa), blast furnace (3.0 mtpa), rolling mill (3.0 mtpa), a captive power plant of 500 MW, besides oxygen, lime and dolo plant.
The project cost is estimated at ₹ 360,000 million. The project is to be implemented in phases.
The project was mooted in 2014 and is on the process of getting statutory clearances.
